| • Diplomats and Privileged Persons may import a vehicle into Bangladesh duty free. | ||
| • No vehicle will be more than four years old in the case of shipment Used Vehicles will be importable only from the country | ||

| • All other foreigners and Bangladesh nationals may import a motor vehicle into Bangladesh, but it will be subject to duty. Also, the process is long and tedious, so there will be port storage of at least one month. This is approximately Usd 750.00 per month. The duty is approximately 100% of the new value of the vehicle (as determined by Bangladesh Customs). | ||
| • Import tax is 30%, VAT is 15% | ||
| • A certificate containing age, model number and chassis number of the used car will have to be submitted to the customs authority from Japan Auto Appraisal Institute (JAAI). | ||
| • For determining date/age of the imported used car the date/age will be calculated from the first day of the next year of manufacture of chassis. | ||
